In an increasingly interconnected world, political engagement extends beyond local and state boundaries. Supporting out-of-state candidates can offer a range of benefits, both for individuals and the broader political landscape. Here are some key reasons why backing candidates from other states is a valuable endeavor:

  1. Amplifying National Issues Supporting out-of-state candidates allows individuals to advocate for national issues that resonate with them. By contributing to campaigns of candidates who champion causes such as environmental protection, healthcare reform, and social justice, supporters can help amplify these issues on a larger stage. This can lead to meaningful policy changes that impact the entire country.

  2. Promoting Diversity and Representation Backing candidates from diverse backgrounds and regions helps promote a more inclusive and representative government. Out-of-state support can provide crucial resources to underrepresented candidates, enabling them to overcome financial and logistical challenges. This, in turn, fosters a political environment where diverse voices and perspectives are heard, ultimately enriching the democratic process

  3. Strengthening Democracy Supporting candidates from other states can strengthen the democratic process by encouraging greater political participation. It allows individuals to take an active role in shaping the future of the country, even if they live in regions where their preferred candidates may not be running. This broader engagement can lead to a more informed and energized electorate, contributing to a healthier democracy.

  4. Building Coalitions Out-of-state support can help build coalitions across state lines, fostering collaboration and unity among like-minded individuals and organizations. By pooling resources and expertise, supporters can work together to achieve common goals and create a more cohesive and effective political movement.

  5. Addressing Regional Disparities Supporting out-of-state candidates can help address regional disparities by directing attention and resources to areas that may be underserved or overlooked. This can lead to more equitable distribution of political power and resources, ensuring that all regions of the country receive the representation and support they need.

  6. Encouraging Accountability When citizens support candidates from other states, it sends a message that politicians are accountable to a broader audience. This can encourage elected officials to prioritize ethical governance and responsive leadership, knowing that their actions are being scrutinized not only by their constituents but by a national audience as well. In conclusion, supporting out-of-state candidates offers a multitude of benefits, from amplifying national issues to promoting diversity and strengthening democracy. By engaging in this broader political participation, individuals can contribute to a more inclusive, equitable, and accountable political system that better serves the needs of all Americans.

We have a small window of precious opportunity to take control away from the Republicans in Congress who are just standing by while their child in the Whitehouse and his playpen pal ignore basic democratic principles of fairness while weakening every part of our government with their destructive and chaotic chainsaw governance. That is why I am donating to the special April 1 election campaigns of Gay Valimont and Josh Weil, and why I am asking all of to do the same. Please join me!
